LED screen stays lit in blackout mode
Problem: The LED screen still shows a faint glow even though blackout mode is enabled.
Cause: Some LED panels do not interpret a black image as a complete shutdown. The panel continues to receive a signal and activates its backlight.
Solution:
- Check whether your LED controller supports a blackout function at hardware level.
- Under Settings → Screen, use the option Turn off screen on blackout, if available.
- Alternatively, you can disable the HDMI or DisplayPort output via your computer's system settings.
LED screen flickers at regular intervals
Problem: The scoreboard flickers or shows brief dropouts on the LED screen.
Cause: The cause is often a mismatch between the refresh rate of the computer and that of the LED controller.
Solution:
- Make sure the refresh rate (Hz) in your computer's display settings matches that of the LED controller (usually 60 Hz).
- Check the HDMI or DisplayPort cable for damage or loose connections.
- Use a high-quality cable (HDMI 2.0 or higher for higher resolutions).
- Disable power-saving options for the screen in the system settings.
Scoreboard does not start
Problem: Nothing happens after clicking "Start scoreboard", or an error message appears.
Solution:
- Make sure an external screen is connected and detected.
- Under Settings → Screen, check that the correct display is selected.
- Try setting the resolution to a lower value (e.g. 1280 × 720).
- Restart LemonScore.
Licence key is not accepted
Problem: The licence key you entered is shown as invalid.
Solution:
- Check that the key was copied correctly, watching for spaces at the beginning or end.
- Make sure your computer has an active internet connection (only required for the initial activation).
- If you have already activated the key on another computer, the previous activation must be deactivated first. Contact us via the contact page for support.
Match clock is out of sync
Problem: The match clock shown on the scoreboard differs from the one in the controller.
Solution:
- Check the network connection if you are using the Remote Control.
- Make sure no other application is using excessive CPU or GPU resources.
- Close programs you do not need to improve system performance.
Media are not displayed
Problem: Images or videos in a playlist are not shown on the scoreboard.
Solution:
- Check that the files are in a supported format (JPG, PNG for images; MP4, MOV, AVI for videos).
- Make sure the files are not corrupted by testing playback in an external player.
- Check whether the playlist has been started in the playlist controller.
- For videos: make sure the required video codec is installed on your system.
Performance problems and stuttering
Problem: The scoreboard stutters or responds slowly.
Solution:
- Check the system requirements and make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements.
- Close programs you do not need and browser tabs.
- Make sure your GPU drivers are up to date.
- Reduce the resolution of the scoreboard in the settings.
- Avoid playing high-resolution videos (4K) simultaneously on older hardware.
For the best performance we recommend a computer with a dedicated GPU or a Mac with an M3/M4 processor. Further details can be found under System requirements.
