Mobile app: control the scoreboard from your phone

The LemonScore Mobile App is a native remote control for iPhone and Android. It offers haptic feedback, automatic server discovery and all the key controller functions, optimised for use at the side of the pitch.

To use the app, the remote control must be enabled in the desktop app (Settings, Remote Control).

Connecting to the desktop

Make sure your mobile device and the LemonScore computer are on the same Wi-Fi network. The app offers two connection methods:

Automatic discovery

1. Open the app. The Automatic discovery tab is active by default.
2. The app automatically searches for LemonScore instances on the network via mDNS (up to 10 seconds).
3. Servers found are shown with their name, IP address and version.
4. Tap the desired server to continue.

You can restart the search at any time using the refresh icon. If no server is found, check that both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, or use the manual connection.

Manual IP entry

If automatic discovery does not find a server, switch to the Manual IP tab:

1. Enter the IP address shown in the LemonScore desktop app under Settings, Remote Control.
2. The port is 4000 by default.
3. Tap Connect.

The app remembers the last IP address and port used, so you do not have to enter them again next time.

PIN authentication

After selecting a server, the PIN entry appears:

1. Read the 6-digit PIN in the LemonScore desktop app (under Settings, Remote Control).
2. Enter the PIN in the app. The connection is established automatically as soon as all 6 digits have been entered.
3. Once connected, the controller opens.

The app stores the authentication securely on the device. When reconnecting to the same server, no new PIN entry is needed as long as the desktop app has not been restarted.

Available controls

The controller offers the following functions:

• Score: increase or decrease goals for the home and away team, including team selection.
• Match clock: start, stop and set the time manually. Supports match and timer mode with quick select (for example 45').
• Animations: trigger goal, yellow card, red card, substitution, offside and pre-match animations. Player selection for personalised overlays.
• Penalty shoot-out: start a penalty shoot-out, choose the team that shoots first, record shots and finish.
• Playlists: select, play and stop a playlist.
• Advertising banners: show and hide banners.
• Music: start and stop music playback.
• Shortcuts: trigger your own shortcuts directly from your phone.

Real-time synchronisation

All changes are synchronised in real time via Socket.io, between the app, the desktop and all other connected devices. If another operator changes the score on the desktop, you see the update immediately on your phone. You can use several smartphones, tablets and the web remote control at the same time.

Haptic feedback

The app uses your phone's vibration motor for a tactile operating experience:

• Light vibration: when tapping buttons and selecting a server.
• Success feedback: on successful connection and PIN entry.
• Error feedback: on an incorrect PIN or an unreachable server.

Haptic feedback can be disabled in the app's Settings.

Tips and notes

• Same network: both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Public or guest networks often block communication.
• Connection lost: if the connection drops, the app automatically shows a reconnection dialog with a countdown. You can also reconnect immediately.
• Latency: the current connection latency is shown in the app settings. On a stable network it is under one second.
• Firewall: make sure port 4000 on the LemonScore computer is not blocked by a firewall.
