Backup and restore: save and import data
Create backups of your LemonScore configuration and media. Restore settings, teams and advertising from a backup file on any computer in a few clicks.
The Backup and restore function lets you export all settings, teams, media and configurations as a ZIP file and restore them when needed on another computer or after a fresh installation.

Create backups regularly, especially before software updates or before moving to a new computer.
Export a backup
- Go to Settings, General.
- In the Backup and restore section, click Export backup.
- Choose a location for the ZIP file. The default name contains the current date (e.g. LemonScore_Backup_2026-03-06.zip).
The backup file contains:
- config.json: All settings, teams, playlists, layouts and configurations.
- media/: Team logos, advertising banner images and other media files.
Import a backup
- Go to Settings, General.
- Click Import backup.
- Select the previously exported ZIP file.
- After a successful import, a dialog appears: "The application must be restarted to apply the imported backup."
- Confirm the restart.
⚠️
Importing overwrites all existing settings and media. LemonScore automatically creates a safety copy of the current data before overwriting it.

Tips and notes
- Back up before updates: Create a backup before every major update so you can roll back if needed.
- Multiple locations: Use backups to deploy the same configuration on several computers (e.g. main and spare computer).
- Storage location: Save backups on an external drive or in the cloud, not only locally on the same computer.
